Celebrities and Their Influence on the Cannabis Industry

Public awareness alongside the increasing tolerance and legalization of marijuana in numerous states and countries seem to have propelled celebrities to join in on all the fun. Apart from fast becoming part of an everyday lifestyle, ganja is now seen as an essential plant to have because of its numerous benefits.

Over the years, cannabis and CBD oil have shown breakthroughs in the medical industry. It has been used to help manage chronic pain as well as treat stress, depression, and anxiety. Using CBD products have also been known to promote a better quality of sleep. In addition, individuals who have taken to using such goods can easily experiment with how they can use these cannabis products.

With more nations and states looking to legalize the use of marijuana, it cannot be denied that there are more organizations and individuals who are voicing out in support of this plant. As a matter of fact, celebrities and other influential personalities who have kept themselves in the limelight have shown backing for cannabis.

Not surprisingly, the rapper Snoop Dogg, actor Seth Rogen, and even singer/artist Rihanna is a fan of cannabis. Meanwhile, other artists and personalities in Hollywood and in the music industry such as Lady Gaga, Pete Davidson, Patrick Stewart, and Whoopi Goldberg have been vocal about the use of medical marijuana to help ease their illnesses, allowing them to cope with the pain they feel. Tommy Chong also acknowledged that high concentrations of CBD oil allowed him to conquer his prostate cancer.

Celebrities and Pot Businesses

Many personalities who have shown support for pot have recently been making the big leap in backing cannabis-related businesses in the market. Snoop Dogg even invested in his hard-earned money in a venture capital fund specializing in cannabis named Casa Verde Capital. In 2018, the marijuana fund was said to have successfully raised $45 million.

Just recently, Seth Rogen also recently launched his own weed company called Houseplant. Together with Evan Goldberg and Ontario-based grower Canopy Growth, the comedy actor is looking to present his products to the market with the aim for people to “learn to love cannabis.”

Even Notorious B.IG.’s son, C.J. Wallace, has taken to launching his own business named ‘Think BIG’ as a homage to his late father. According to Maxim, Notorious B.I.G was quite known for taking marijuana to help further his creative juices when making music. The company focuses on manufacturing and selling products such as CBD gummies, edibles, vapes, pre-rolls, and the like.

Martha Stewart, who has also worked with Snoop Dogg in the past in their show, Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party, is also partnering up with Canopy Growth. Her job is to develop and advertise a new line of hemp-derived CBD products. These include solutions aimed to remedy illnesses and or discomfort in pets, as reported by CNBC.

A Wider Reach

There is no denying that the involvement of these celebrities in the cannabis industry stems from their love and affinity for marijuana and other notable CBD products. Come to think of it, these individuals have taken to investing and backing up companies they strongly believe in not only because they have been using pot, but they also have faith in the booming business market.

Alongside the legalization in various parts of the United States as well as other countries such as Canada and even Thailand, it comes as no surprise that there are many growth and business prospects for weed. For as long as one can remember, using this herb has been a part of culture, tradition, and lifestyle.

Today, the use of hemp in a variety of forms is spurred by its evolution to becoming an everyday lifestyle product, as it has been marketed as such by celebrities everyone has come to see not just on the big screen but also on social media. Aside from being used as a joint, this plant is also being used as CBD gummies, tinctures, and many more.

For this reason, celebrities love not only endorsing these cannabis-related goods but take pride in using these as well. After all, being associated with cannabis companies mean not only the chance to widen their reach but also increase their fan base. Not to mention, these celebrities and their partnership with budding brands in the pot market have the chance to spread awareness about marijuana and the benefits it can bring.

Through their power and their influence, notable personalities can also shed light on the advocacies their brand or their company stands for. As mentioned, Seth Rogen aims to foster more awareness and love for cannabis through Houseplant. Martha Stewart, on the other hand, has is linking her lifestyle authority with Canopy Growth.

Growing CBD Product Sales Through Endorsement

Celebrities who have shown an affinity for the plant easily fit the image of typical supporters. However, for companies and businesses to grow, it is important to work with personalities who are not usually associated with or stereotyped as a stoner.

Martha Stewart entering the cannabis industry and promoting CBD products is a huge deal because she is not necessarily known for her connection with the plant. This allows her and other influencers and personalities such as Gwyneth Paltrow with Goop and its association with Med Men to promote hemp as organically and as naturally as they can be. In hindsight, these partnerships allow customers to widen their mindset in terms of the specific audience being targeted and the benefits this plant can provide.

With this highly effective marketing strategy, it is not surprising to see that celebrity endorsements are successful in urging consumers to see what the various cannabis brands on the market have to offer.

As the legalization and the buzz surrounding marijuana becomes stronger, more celebrities and supporters of weed need to band together. This way, the powerful influence that these people yield can shed more light not only on the current issues being faced in the weed industry but also the other challenges that come with legalities.
